Salary: £24,114 – £26, 102 per annum

Who are we?

We are SIFA Fireside, the support centre for single adults, or childless couples (over 25) in Birmingham that face homelessness. For 40 years we have supported Birmingham’s most vulnerable people through services spanning emergency Interventions, Prevention and Move On.

Overall purpose of job: 

The Intervention Assessment Worker is a new role based at our main hub in Digbeth, supporting our latest project. We are seeking individuals for this role to provide flexible, person-centered support to adults aged 18 and over who are homeless, have a history of homelessness, or are at risk of becoming homeless. This position primarily involves supporting our Homeless Intervention Service and Exempt Accommodation Navigator Service by triaging and assisting with assessments.

The role focuses on identifying clients living in exempt accommodation and collaborating to help them sustain their housing within the city. Our service offers immediate practical and emotional support in a welcoming environment, including assessments, signposting, and referrals to relevant support services.

Applicants should have direct experience supporting vulnerable people and possess an excellent understanding of the barriers that individuals with multiple disadvantages face in accessing support and accommodation.

Key tasks (selection of):

1. Conduct initial assessments of clients accessing SIFA Fireside, capturing information about their needs to address them effectively.

2. Provide advice and support to clients, directing and referring them to appropriate internal and external services.

3. Manage a small caseload of clients as part of the Support Centre services, supporting the identification of recovery pathways and coordinating with partner services.

4. Collaborate closely with our Homeless Transition Worker Service to identify and report issues with exempt accommodation.

5. Assist with practical support such as making telephone calls and booking appointments.
